I'm SO close to making it to the weekend. I am eager to take some time off and enjoy being home and spending time with my hubby and boys.

I've been feeling a bit better this past week.

My grandma is making a good recovery this week. She spent last weekend in the hospital and finally came home on Wednesday. I'm glad to see her making improvements. Today I spent the morning helping her make cards and cleaned and organized her craft room. I felt accomplished, grandma was happy to see it clean and she'll be able to maneuver safely with her walker in there.

I've fallen in love with Yoga and Pilates. My energy level is slowly rising and my mood is improving. Plus my body feels fabulous and slimmer. My current goal is to do yoga twice a week, Pilates twice and Cardio twice. Hopefully my schedule allows me to succeed :)

On an extremely exciting note..... Mitch and I just booked a cruise to the Western Caribbean in place of our Disneyland vacation. We decided while we don't have children, we need to take advantage of being able to travel out of country. Labadee, Jamaica and Cozumel Mexico.... We've already visited those places on our last cruise. BUT it was incredible!!! And we can't wait to go again :) September can't come soon enough.

I have a feeling that this will be my year. 25 will be a fabulous year! My health will balance, my mental health will soar, my body will be healthy and in shape. A cruise, birthdays, goals.... This is my year.

This year I began thinking about Valentine's day about a month in advance.
It's the only way I am able to gear up for anything lately.
So in hopes of pulling off a fabulous Valentines....
I planned in advance.

I spent quite a bit of time cutting out darling hearts to decorate with

I even made a double batch of sugar cookies to share with friends and family

To start my valentines.... I asked my poppy's help in heart attacking Mitch's desk at work. Since he works at an investment firm, only employees are allowed. I even had help from a friend in coming up with a darling phrase, since poppy heart attacked it a day early....

"someone as special as you.... shouldn't have to wait another day... Happy Valentine's Day love!"

It was perfect!! We definitely surprised him. {sadly no pictures are allowed}.

Monday night while he was at work I finished blowing up all the balloons. The boys didn't like them. They wouldn't stop barking at them. Once I was done though and had closed the door on my office, Jake kept going over to the door wanting in. I was afraid he'd give away the balloons. Luckily Mitch didn't notice when he was home.

On Tuesday, actual Valentines day, I worked 8-2. Then had plans to hurry home and gather all the balloons I had blown up and fill his car full. 45 red, pink and white balloons. I was nervous someone would catch me and alert Mitch prior to his lunch break. My luck held though. I had a cute note "will you be mine?" and then a booklet of car washes and a gift card to his favorite smoothie shop. 4:30 came and I got my usual call from him. He was completely shocked and curious how I managed to get the balloons to stay in the car while filling it up. My surprise was that he managed to get out of his overtime shift that night. So we grabbed some burgers to go and curled up in bed for the evening.

My day turned out perfect. Mitch had listened to my request for a simple heart shaped ring for my right hand. I found it on our bed Monday night before I headed to Pilates. I was thrilled!! It was the perfect gift!! :) At work I received my first box of plant plugs. I love getting my plant babies. A perfect delivery for Valentines at work. When I arrived home that afternoon, I found the most beautiful bouquet red tulips and blue Irises along with a book I had been wanting - Pukka. {The author wrote Merle's door which I love!!}. It was the sweetest Valentines! I'm so grateful for a thoughtful hubby who knows me and just what to get me ;)

4 Valentine Days later.... I love him just as much as our first. I'm grateful to have such a wonderful man as my husband and as my sweetheart!!

I seem to have fallen a little short with my shots yesterday.
I stayed home from church in order to catch up on some sleep {thanks mono}.
I managed to make sugar cookies as I intended.... but my sweet Nanna {sister} decided to stay home due to the snow fall. Mitch and I didn't get any snow :(

4: My bed calling my name.... I got a 3 hour nap in.

9: we had a family dinner at my grandpa's last night. Mitch helped me frost some cookies so we could take some.

After dinner, all the cousins played Sardines. Since Grandpa's new home is so large it was a perfect place to play. It was incredibly entertaining listening to everyone feel their way around in the dark downstairs in hopes of finding the person hiding. I was the last person to be it. I rocked the hiding place!! My brother Peter was the only one who was able to find me. We all had a wonderful evening!! Too bad I forgot to bring my camera along.

10 things I've learn this past week

1: Avocado and eggs in a basket are by far one of my favorite meals lately. It's perfect for any time of the day.
2: I have been feeling antsy lately.... not quite myself....
3: Friday morning - making it a morning for myself! I went to a yoga class {first one - I loved it}, grabbed a Chai tea, sitting on the floor stretching while jotting my thoughts down... it's a good start
4: Taking care of my grandma is teaching me wonderful things. Like patience and true selfless love.
5: glittery pink nail polish is my new favorite
6: eager to make wonderful sugar cookies. Best part of Valentines!
7: I'm falling in love with Pilates and Yoga. I feel that it adds to my week. {exercising all around does, but I especially love the classes}
8: I feel that I've been in a minor blogging rut lately... I miss it. It's amazing how therapeutic writing can be
9: trying to drink lots of water. When I reach for my bottle... i remind myself - Zero calories. lol
10: my favorite way to stay motivated on staying fit and exercising lately... Pinterest baby. I love browsing through all the inspiring fitness pins!

It's been a long week.

I'm exhausted and my body told me today that it had enough.

My grandma is making small improvements.

We are taking one day at a time.

Work has been split between the store and the house

My aunt Susie is flying in tomorrow night to spend the weekend with grandma

It was be a blessing having her here

Monday night I made it to Pilates

It was a good way to start the week

I'm enjoying it

I was hoping to make it tonight....

my body said no...

I've spent the afternoon in bed.

Sunday I'm looking forward to having some girl time

I work for my grandpa which is a wonderful blessing.
I learn so many things from him
and I'm grateful for the relationship I've been able to build with him over the years.
I've also been blessed with being able to interact with my grandma on a regular basis.

The past two weeks have been a challenge.
My grandma was taken to the ER about two weeks ago with signs of a possible stroke.
It was in the middle of the night.
On my way to work that Wednesday morning I was talking with my mom and she let me know what happened.
Things seemed to stabilize...
However the last week, week and a half have been more challenging.
Grandpa found out he had pneumonia which has kept him from going to Texas with the runners in our family to participate in the Rocky Raccoon Ultra Marathon (50 miles)
We are looking at it as a blessing in disguise right now...
My grandma's health has deteriorated dramatically in the past week... past few days.

My sweet mother has been so good taking care of each of her children
and always says I hope that one day you will be able to take care of me when I get old.
I respond - Mom I will be more than willing to help you and change your diaper. But dad is on his own ;)
Little did I think that I would be helping her take care of her mother, my grandma.

My grandma has had countless health problems through the years
and I've never had endless patience with her habits...
But over the last few days I'm amazed at how my patience for her and this situation has increased.

Yesterday she lost the ability to stand on her own, move herself freely, and lost the ability to communicate easily.
I was sitting with her yesterday and realized she had an accident
With the help of Mom, we were able to change her, clean her and change the bedding.
It was a new experience for me
Taking care of my grandma on such an intimate level.
soothing her, helping her take sips of water
It was a long, taxing day.

I'm incredible grateful I am able to help out at this difficult time.
I can support my mom and my grandpa.

My grandma was smiling this morning.
She sat with me at the kitchen table for awhile.
Mumbling some jibber.
She is sleeping now.
She was restless all night.

My grandma has a beautiful smile.

I look forward to tomorrow {Sunday}
I'm tired.
Mono and my thyroid are kicking my butt

I made it through the 'dreary' month of January. I'm eager for the days to come and go because they bring me closer to the spring season. My fabulous job makes spring incredibly exciting with all my plants arriving :)

February will be a good month. I'll be planting my herb seedlings, enjoying the primroses, and getting my first few shipments of plants. Hopefully my mono won't be horrid and I'll see some improvements in my health.

It's seems we are a house of sickies lately. Mitch went home yesterday from work with a stomach bug. But on his way home he made a stop to Jamba juice for us and brought me one at work. Since Sanna is in Mexico this week I'm work everyday (48hrs) which is making for some long quiet days. I look forward to her coming home :)

Monday I made it to the gym. I went to my first Pilates class. I felt out of place at first since I hadn't a clue what Pilates was. I followed everyone else and pulled out a mat, weights, grabbed a ballon and piece of felt. Boy was I in for it. It was the most intense workout I've EVER done. I was sweating like never before :) ha. I left completely beat but eager to go to another class... Until I woke up Tuesday... And waking up this morning I was even more stiff and sore. Lol. I don't think I'll make it to the class tonight but I plan on attending the Monday night class and hopefully working up to Pilates twice a week. I would love to buy my own mat.... The ones available at the gym reak! Tonight I'm hoping to hope on the tread mill. I'm determined to get my 3 days in a week and working up to 4 or 5 times.

Mitch has 'attempted' to make my mono laughable. He won't kiss or share anything with me {naturally} and even thinks I shouldn't be kissing the boys. I had to google -can dogs catch mono to convince him that I need puppy kisses to get me through this. Besides drawing death on my water bottle, he won't hold hands with me if my hands touched my mouth and likes to pillow forts to protect him from my mono germs. Lol. I'm glad he's good for a laugh :) at least he'll kiss my forehead goodnight.

10 things I've learned this week thus far...

1: week one at the gym... I declare it a success. {considering}
2: Monday night felt like I was coming down with the flu.... Wednesday Dr called with results from last weeks blood work..... It's Mono {on top of my thyroid problems}
3: cezar makes an excellent snuggling buddy when you want to play it low key
4: minimal hours at work first part of the week - perfect for sleeping in and resting
5: UNLA trade show for work Tuesday. I loved seeing all the plant booths!!!
6: Mitch is amazing!!! I really have the best hubby ever :)
7: work will be split for the next few weeks between the green house and watching my grandma. Her health is declining
8: Im grateful for Ibprophen. It's the only thing giving me relief from my horrible sore throat.
9: Friday night date night .... Redbox and snuggles in bed = perfect
10: I'm falling in love with baking again!! This week I made Red Velvet Cheesecake Brownies. {from scratch of course} yummy!

Sisters.

I love that as we get older.... we grow closer together.

We have a very unique dynamic...

and I love it.

A little update...

I've been spending more time focusing on the important things in my life...

which means less computer/internet time.

It's been really wonderful.

Last week we get our gym membership

went shopping for some workout clothes

I finally found a lamp I liked for my nightstand!! {a bonus - it was on clearance}

I've been reading my book on hypothyroidism

We've spent time with family

spent time together

we've cooked some

Monday I made it to the gym in the morning, work and then came home feeling like the flu had hit me

I attended a trade show for work up at the sandy expo center yesterday.

I slept in yesterday and today

Fighting a mean sore throat...

I had today off and spent it cleaning the house and resting

Updates on my health:

My doctor called with my test results today

We finally know why I've been feeling extremely fatigued

So on top of the normal fatigue from being hypothyroid... I also have mono.

She said she's surprised I don't have a sore throat and feel feverish/flu-ish...

I laughed... and said guessed what showed up this week.

She recommends lots and lots of rest, plenty of fluids and eating extra healthy.

Hopefully once I kick the mono... I'll start feeling better with my thyroid as well.

I've been on synthroid and it has helped bring my TSH levels towards the normal range {2.98}

but I asked to be switched to Amour which is a more 'natural' thyroid medicine that's animal {pig} based.

I hope to see improvements in the next few months.

Mitch's new baby

Remember our favorite part of the month... the car show. And how our Jetta had to get towed....
Mitch knows cars. and when his gut feeling says to get ride of a car... we listen.
Well we traded in our the jetta for Mitch's new baby.
He found a fabulous deal on the Nissan 350z. It's practically brand new, with only 14k miles on it.
Granted it's not the most ideal car for the winter road conditions.
Luckily we've had a very mild winter so far and on bad days, I can drop him off at work.
Best part of this deal... I finally get to drive my Jeep Commander ALL the time :)
I'm in love with driving an SUV.

When Mitch and I were friends and starting to date back in winter '07/'08 he had a 350z
We have some wonderful memories with that car.
So now as we are driving I'm being flooded with all of those memories :)
It's kinda neat.

It's been awhile since I've had a good day. Today was a good day.

Work wasn't bad. I spent majority of my time working on the label inventory.

I was home around 3:30. Decided I'd clean the kitchen and do all the dishes. After that I felt like I could tackle the spice cupboard. Wow. I organized, put some baking ingredients in containers am moved out vitamins into the cabinent.

Once Mitch got home from work we headed over to Golds gym. We took a tour of the gym and decided it'd be a good fit for us. Looky at us... Proud new gym members. I think the major plus is that's it's about mins away from us. I'm eager to get my work out on :)

And to top of my day... I baked peanut butter cup brownies as well as tomato soup with grilled cheese for dinner. Mmm. Deliciousness.

I'm so grateful for a good day!!

On a side note, I went to the dr yesterday and had more blood drawn. Hoping to make small adjustments one at a time and hopefully will see improvements. I'm taking a synthroid each morning along with a handful of vitamins and an herbal thyroid blend. I'll go back in a month for another check up.

Stop... Drop... THROW

The other night Mitch and I called it a night. Boys had been pottied, teeth brushed, lights out... As we lay there drifting off into dream land I had a very important thought run across my mind!

What if there was a fire in our house?!?! In the middle of the night and we'd have to escape out of the second floor.

I rolled over...

Me- Honey.... Mitch..... What are we going to do if we have a fire?? How would we get the boys out??

Mitch - we'd throw them out the window.

Me- NO!! It'd break their legs!! We should buy a fire ladder.

Mitch - were are we going to get one?

Me - my mom would know.

Mitch - honey we would break out the window and jump

Me - why break the window??!! We could just pop out the screen.

Mitch - we could throw our matress out on the ground

Me - there is NO way we'd squeeze our memory foam King matress out in the middle of the fire

Mitch - I suppose your right...

Me - maybe we could reach the top of the shed roof...

Mitch- is it under our window?

Me - no not really...

Mitch- we could just run downstairs really fast

Me - what if the fire is in the way??!

Mitch - we could make it...

Mitch - I guess we could buy a fire ladder. How would the boys get down it??

Me - we'd carry them! I'd take the wee one you get the fatty

Mitch - okay

We roll back over and say goodnight again.... My mind still thinking....

Me - babe! I figured it out!!

Mitch - oh?

Me- we could set them in our quilts and then lower them down.

Mitch - that would work.

Me - phew. Glad I know now. Good night.

the cookie thief

I Love the Story "The Cookie Thief." It's such a great lesson in how we often judge harshly before we know the circumstances. So glad this wasn't me. But I can learn from others, I hope.

The Cookie Thief

A woman was waiting at an airport one night, with several long hours before her flight. She hunted for a book in the airport shops, bought a bag of cookies and found a place to drop.

She was engrossed in her book but happened to see, that the man sitting beside her, as bold as could be. . .grabbed a cookie or two from the bag in between, which she tried to ignore to avoid a scene.

So she munched the cookies and watched the clock, as the gutsy cookie thief diminished her stock. She was getting more irritated as the minutes ticked by, thinking, "If I wasn't so nice, I would blacken his eye."

With each cookie she took, he took one too, when only one was left, she wondered what he would do. With a smile on his face, and a nervous laugh, he took the last cookie and broke it in half.

He offered her half, as he ate the other, she snatched it from him and thought… oooh, brother. This guy has some nerve and he's also rude, why he didn't even show any gratitude!

She had never known when she had been so galled, and sighed with relief when her flight was called. She gathered her belongings and headed to the gate, refusing to look back at the thieving ingrate.

She boarded the plane, and sank in her seat, then she sought her book, which was almost complete. As she reached in her baggage, she gasped with surprise, there was her bag of cookies, in front of her eyes.

If mine are here, she moaned in despair, the others were his, and he tried to share. Too late to apologize, she realized with grief, that she was the rude one, the ingrate, the thief.

The highlight of January... the car show

Every January we look forward to going to the car show up at the sandy expo center. It's the highlight of January. If you knew my husband, you'd know how much he loves cars. He's had over 25 vehicles in 9 yrs. I'm not kidding either.

Saturday we headed up to Salt Lake mid afternoon. Went to dinner at the Cheesecake factory. Went shopping for work pants for me since mine have up the ghost the day before. And then headed to the car show.

We loved looking at the jeep adventure they had this year. We decided to for go the HUGE line though. The Fisker display was incredible. Gorgeous electric car!! Admired the Nissan 370z. Drooled over the Audi R8. Loved sitting in the LandRovers. And of course dreamed of the new Mustang 5.0. Then we discussed our personal favorites of Ferrari. Mine is the Ferrari California. And Mitch loves the classic Ferrari. As always we had a fabulous time.

We head back out to car. I was exhausted!! I was ready to crawl into bed. The Judah had other plans... Didn't want to run for us. At all. It'd turn over for us but would then die. No amount of pumping the brakes would help. We were sitting ducks. I was SO grateful I grabbed my coat as we headed out the door earlier and I wore my warm cozy boots. After trying to get the car started 3 dozen times... I finally called our roadside assistance. {I'm so grateful Mitch added that to our insurance policy}. With a tow truck on the way, Mitch called his dad and he made his way from Spanish Fork to Sandy to pick us up. Thank you a million times over Dad for helping us out!! We asked to be towed to the VW dealer there in Sandy.

I am proud to say that even though I was exhausted I managed to stay chipper for Mitch. {I don't usually have the best track record when im beyond exhausted.}

We dropped the Jetta off, filled out the drop box envelope and then Dad pulled up. Mitch went to show him what it was doing. And what do you know... It fired right up. You've got to be kidding us. Mitch tried it a couple more times and it kept starting. We decided it was not worth a chancing it to drive it home so we left it at the dealer.

I was so grateful to finally make it home and be able to collapse on my bed!! Unfortunately the boys were ready to play and had energy to spare.

random tidbits...

I really love my new Kitchen-aid!!! I've used it 3 times in two weeks! I'm dreaming of all the really scrumptious things I can make with it. Thank you Pinterest. My hubby is truly the best!! He knows how to spoil me ;)

Today was a really good day. It's refreshing to have a good day paired with energy. Gladly I never hit my 'wall'. Here's to hoping that I have similar days in my coming week!

My sister Abby says she's going to pixi cut her hair {well... pretty close to pixi}. I admire her!! I love her long hair! I think she is brave to go so bold :) Abby you are absolutely incredible and I love you from the bottom of my heart!! Thank you for being an inspiration to me lately! xoxoxo {BUT I will keep my hair ;) thank you}

Tomorrow is date night for the Mister and I. We are going to the car show at the Expo center. I'm so excited!! It is something we have done for 4 years now {I believe}. I love looking at all the new models, dreaming of which car will be ours next..... It's the highlight of our January's. To top it off... Dinner at the Cheesecake Factory and peaking into the new H&M. :) Hooray for date night!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm enjoying the feeling of not feeling bored and scrolling through Facebook and Twitter. It's nice to focus more on things in the moment.... not silly apps. I feel I've been able to focus on my importants better :)

Urge to make homemade cards. I think a trip to Hobbylobby is in order. Yay for feeling creative!

Last but not least.... I am so incredibly grateful for my dear sweet loving husband!! He does so much for me! and even though he may have areas to improve in {lets face it... I am trying to catch up with him... he by far surpasses me by being the most incredible spouse to ever exist!!......} he is by far the most perfect man for me! I'm truly blessed to have someone who tries so hard for me, to support me, and to be everything I need!! Thank you from the bottom of my heart and more for everything honey!! I love you to the moon and back!

PS. I almost cried when I thought I had wrecked my sourdough starter from my grandpa!! I almost didn't call him, but my poppy told me it was okay to call and talk to him. My grandpa told me I was just fine and said to just 'start' it again. Hoping the morning doesn't disappoint!! I'd be heart broken if my starter died! It's the last of the one I grew up with... its older than I dunno... 40+. I grew up with it. Please pray for my starter! {It's even in the crock I grew up with.}

taking a step forward

A part of January is spent reflecting about how the previous year, the new year, about ourselves and are we happy with everything. I've been thinking a lot lately. My goals have been set. Looking at last year I would consider it a good year. For 2012 I'm wanting to be better. In both health and mind. I want to nurture my marriage. As I've been rolling everything around in my mind I've come to a few conclusions....

Being constantly exhausted is extremely challenging.

I need to focus on serving my little family.

I need to be present in my life.

Balance is going to be incredible important and key to becoming a better me.

I've read some beautiful posts about balance and rearranging priorities the past few days. Those darling ladies put to words exactly what I've been thinking about. I believe I'm too 'plugged' into the internet/apps. For example Facebook. I think it's a great way to keep in touch to friends and family. BUT I can't count the times I refresh my feed on my phone because I am bored during the day. How often Mitch and I are relaxing in the evenings and we are both glued to our phones.... I can't say I'm proud of it. Yesterday I was at work and finally deleted my Facebook app. It was very freeing. Twitter followed this morning. I need to remind myself that it doesn't matter if I know the recent updates of statues. The internet can wait. I am going to allow myself to check all the status updates from my computer if I so feel inclined. I believe this will be a step in the right direction.

Another goal is when Cezar, Jake or Mitch need attention I need to put down anything that I am doing and focus on them.

If I need to rest, I need to allow myself too. Turn of the TV, set down my phone, close the blinds and rest.

My goal for my little blog... It will stay true to me. The good, the bad, the challenges, the beauty.

I need to do more things that I love!! I don't want to waste my life not enjoying every moment.

all these things will allow me to move forward... allow me to become a better me.

I look forward to being a better me this year!

my darling boys and a moment of honesty

Cezar had a checkup this morning at the vet. Jake tagged along with us. He was anxious the whole. The fatty is 32lbs {less than I thought} and the little one is only 11 lbs. Since Cezar's lameness a week ago, I'm glad and grateful to say that the vet gave him thumbs up. He doesn't show any signs of pain or possibility of a fracture and he'll be able to resume regular activity. Has anyone tried to keep a dog 'immobile'??? It's quite the challenge... but it seems we were successful enough :)

I've been struggling a lot lately. It all seems to stem from my health. The amount of exhaustion/fatigue I feel continues to amaze me. Mitch told me the other day that everyone feels tired. I have to remind him that my tired doesn't come from having a productive day, I wake up with my tired. Some mornings are better than others. Some afternoons are complete drags. and some evenings I fall asleep at 7 and will wake up for an hour or so and be able to fall back asleep around 10 with ease. Some days after work I lay down and don't have the ability to get back up for quite awhile. I wonder if it's all due to my hypothyroid or perhaps there is another contributing factor. I've been checked for anemia and don't have any problems there. I don't feel like I'm able to anything really good lately. I feel that I'm stretched too thin. I'd love to focus on being good a one thing and eliminating anything that doesn't allow me to focus on that one thing. I mentioned that I want to focus on my health and my marriage. Looking at other areas of my life I'm trying to figure out what I can let go of. I have good days at work and I have days that drag. My calling at church doesn't seem challenging to most and Mitch thinks I have 'plenty' of time to do it.I don't feel that it's right for me at this current time in my life. I have so many good hours in my day and I feel if I spend most of them at work, then the few good hours I have left in me need to be spent with my hubby or being a better wife. does that make sense to you? I want to feel as though I am able to do something good in my day for me or Mitch. I crave to be better. but it's an incredible challenge when all my body needs is to lay down and rest.

6: spending Christmas vacation at home relaxing and checking off a few to dos off my list.. Exactly what I needed
7: realigning my priorities... Takes effort
8: I love blood oranges. I was so giddy finding some at Wally world the other night
9: no matter what age I am... My mommy is always a huge source of comfort
10: could really go for a nap right about now

hello new year and thoughts running through my head

Mitch and I brought in the new year at home. We celebrated with Cafe Rio to go, cuddling, video games for him, a chick flick for me, snuggled the little one - he injured his front paw/leg someone, and we managed to stay awake til the drop of the ball this time. I think I'm a major fan of staying home :)

I spent Sunday with Cezar making sure he was comfortable and carrying him around. He wouldn't walk on his leg and whimpered frequently. My heart was so sad. Luckily we had a vet visit scheduled early Monday morning so I was able to relax a little. We still aren't sure what he did to his leg, but with some pet pain reliever and keeping him on 'bed rest' {as much as possible} he's starting to use his leg. Cezar has a check up visit next week to see how he's doing.

The past few days I've been thinking about my goals for the year. My main focus will be nurturing my marriage and making improvements with my health. I need to prioritize my life and make my marriage number one. Hopefully working on my health will allow me to do that. I have good days and bad days... and its hard for me to stretch myself at times. Mitch and I had a deep conversation the other night and it gave me the ability to understand him in a new way. My husband is the love of my life! He is truly the most amazing man I know. Mitch treats me a like a princess. I need to be better for him.

Christmas morning is by far the most magical morning all year.

I can't contain my excitement. I tossed and turned practically all night.

Finally 7 am rolled around...but I thought I would be generous and give Mitch another 10 mins.

7:10 I was trying my hardest to get Mitchel out of bed.

7:20 I finally got him making his way towards the stairs

Mitch had taken the roll of 'Santa' this year and I was very excited to see what we received!!

We spent Christmas Eve with Mitch's family. Ashley and Brendon treated all of us to the Chef's Table for dinner. It was such a wonderful treat! {Thank you both so much!!}The food was absolutely heavenly. After dinner we all headed to our place to exchange gifts. It was fun watching Kennady open her presents. She's got it down :) Mitch and Brendon both got 2 way radios. Ashley and I received the most darling flirty aprons. And Dad was spoiled with a iPad from Ashley and Brendon. It was a fabulous evening!! I am grateful we were able to spend time together and enjoy such a magical evening.

We've had such a wonderful and magical Christmas.

Merry Christmas Eve

I'm so excited its Christmas. That means 'Santa' is coming {aka my very handsome husband} and we get to spend time celebrating this wonderful holiday with family.

Luckier yet... I've got a short work day and then I'm off until January 3rd!! Mitch will finish sealing the banister today. wahoo. And I get to spend lots of time with Mitch and the boys. Yay for snuggles ;)

A Christmas treat

I'm getting super excited for Christmas!! Tomorrow is Christmas eve! Holy moly time sure flies. I even had difficulty sleeping this morning because I'm so excited! I'm excited to spend time with Mitchel, family and the boys. We are very blessed this holiday season and are very grateful for everything we have!!

We are wrapping up the year at work. Our Spanish ladies are so sweet and shared the only 2 ripe papayas on their tree {right now} with Sanna and I. They've been growing since spring. What a wonderful treat! I can't wait to eat it. Merry Christmas ladies!!

This afternoon will be spent checking things off my to do list. It will be nice to have everything complete so I can fully relax this weekend :)

Can I just say how much I love good days? Yesterday evening I was alert and chipper and today I've felt great and alert. It's a nice change of pace for sure. Feeling exhausted all the time and far below par isn't my favorite. I pray this energy and mental alertness sticks around through the holidays!!

I held my breath this morning when I saw beautiful snow flakes quietly falling, that it would stick around and maybe even coat the ground. It didn't work. The sun made its way out and is gracing us with a gorgeous *cold* sunny day. Mitch and I are wishing hard for a white Christmas. It's Utah... we are supposed to have lots of snow for Christmas.

We've just about wrapped up Christmas shopping... last on the list - the boys. I'm totally the girl who needs to make sure there is something special under the tree for my fur babies. Mitch finally gave into me {HA} Christmas is supposed to be special for everyone including the boys :)

During the summer Mitch and worked on home improvement projects. We decided to include the banisters in the painting projects... Our one leading upstairs has been feeling naked and left out for the past few months.

I was talking to Sanna about our banister and I offered to help Mitch Saturday night. He was thrilled With my offer. {he's been asking... Nearly begging to get it finished}. Sanna offered to come help me if we hadnt finished over the weekend.

Wanna guess how we spent our evening?? I had the sweetest pair of helping hands and lots of puppy kisses. Sometimes service is the best gift given and received. Thanks a million times over for helping me out lady :) I appreciate you.

Christmas is almost here!! I'm 24 and I still get super giddy for Christmas. I can hardly sleep Christmas eve and am up at 7 ready to run down to the Christmas tree. Lol. Mitch told me im not allowed downstairs with out him this Christmas morning. I told him he'd have me and the boys bouncing on him trying to get him up ;)

My current goals for this week:
- finish painting the banister
- give jake a really good brushing
- give cezar a bath
- do laundry
- finish Christmas shopping - stocking for Mitch and goodies for the boys
- and of course getting lot of rest

Step by step

Wednesday I went into the doctors for another blood draw to see how my thyroid is doing with medication. The blood draw last month was incredibly painful... So i wasn't looking forward to it.

Last month my dr was out of office when I went in for my physical so I saw a NP. I really like her and since she had the foresight to check my thyroid and discovered I'm hypo I choose to continue seeing her. She asked me how I've been feeling since I started my medication. I've had better day but I still have bad days. She ordered a full panel on my thyroid to test my T3 and T4 and thyroid. Also check my iron levels.
I got my result back today. The medication is working and helping bring my thyroid levels back to normal. But she doesn't understand why my symptoms are still present and fatigue is a major problem. She wonders if I might have a mono viruse that is an underlying issue. I'll continue with my medicine, start taking multi vitamins and heavy dose of vitamin D. Hopefully I'll see some improvements. She also recommends eating a small protein snack every 3 hours to help stabilize my blood sugar. I go back in 3 months for more blood work.

I wish I was seeing more improvements. It seems like I'm taking small steps but my symptoms aren't getting any better. My Mood swings and fatigue are beyond exhausting. And my amazing and sweet husband and only take so much. Praying for improvements and answers.

Worst Nightmare

A few weeks ago I asked Grant if I could get my pesticide license. He responded 'you don't know what your talking about'. Okay... So I took a little initiative and sign up for the pesticide workshop that is going on today. I made sure to be up and ready before 8, so I'd have plenty of time to make my way to Provo. 8:20 - I put my big girl pants and braved the freeway. {I really dislike driving freeway. All the construction freaks me out!!} I found my way to the Health and Justice building in Provo, a good parking spot and found the room it was being held in. Asked what I needed to do to check in...

Do you have your license number??

Uh... No. I'm here to get my license.

Well then you need to test.

Holy cow. Let's just say that's a persons worst nightmare having to take a test that you didn't even know about, let alone prepare for. I spent 2 1/2 hrs reading questions, flipping through my new books... Checking and rechecking my answers. And praying I managed to figure our the math questions right. I finally clicked end and prayed I passed. It's my lucky day, I passed with an 84%. Phew.

Grant may have been right... I didn't know what I was asking. Lol.

I head back down to the workshop and since I'm newly licensed i don't need the unit hours but there is some excellent information. Tree diseases, ticks, chemical storage and safety ... Lot to learn. Glad my afternoon is a lot less stressful and I can just enjoy the learning :)

A few weeks ago I was about to jump in the shower. The boys were hanging out with me so I set the trash can on the toilet and set the toilet paper roll on the back of the toilet. Jake thinks if he can't dig in the trash, then unrolling the toilet paper is the next best thing. I thought I managed to out smart him... Until I finished my shower. Jake figured if he couldn't have those two, he'd pull one out of the packaging.

It doesn't feel quite like Christmas yet.... We haven't had any snow!! Last year we had a few snow storms by now. This year we've barely received a dusting. Living in Utah generally means a white Christmas... I'm in need of a white Christmas.

Mitch is playing Santa this year. I have the most incredible husband!! I'm excited to see what 'Santa' has in store for us this year. Mitch said this year he'll be Santa and next will be my turn. The best part about my hubby... he is amazing when it comes to details. I on the other hand am not so amazing in that area. BUT that doesn't mean I don't want to participate in the magic of gift giving in the holiday season. Everyone loves surprises. I'm eager to at least fill his stocking ALL on my own :) who is 'Santa' in your house??

But my mommy was my hero and was able to come cover me in the afternoon. {One of the perks of working with family} Thank you mommy for being my hero and letting me go home. Between an incredibly sweet and caring hubby and the best-est mommy in the whole world... I'm a very lucky girl. Beside feeling sick... its been a rough couple of days thyroid wise. I'm so grateful to know there is a reason behind the way I feel most days. Mood swings, lack of energy, no motivation... Luckily my tummy is back to it's happy self.

Tomato soup: My Favorite ever

I grew up with homemade tomato soup.

It really was the best.

Campbells soup?! NO THANK YOU.

Recently I 'perfected' it though :)

And I'm dying to share the goodness!

It's super easy.

INGREDIENTS:

1 quart canned tomatoes

1 pint half and half

4 oz cream cheese

Blend tomatoes until they are super smooth

Pour into sauce pan

Add lots of half and half.

{I usually use 3/4 of the pint}

and 4oz of cream cheese

Warm.

You will want to whisk the it until everything is smooth

Enjoy!

With delicious grilled cheese of course :)

Mitch has been working crazy hours lately.
I appreciate everything he does for us!!
BUT we are in need of some good quality time.

Tonight will be spent holding hands,

Plus we'll be able to support Faith...
She is preforming with her dance studio at the festival.

Hooray for December

Christmas is in the air

unfortunately the weather doesn't seem to care.

last night on the news we had major warnings for winter weather -- wind and possible snow.

Luckily for us... we didn't experience the 'hurricane' winds.

I feel horrible for everyone in northern Utah,

At work we are trying to finish decorating for the holidays.

Tuesday notes

Thanksgiving was wonderful.

I've been trying to find my energy....
I haven't been super successful.
Sunday I spent the majority of the day in bed resting...
Saturday I came down with a sore throat...
it's now day 4
Sore throats are the worst!!

I pulled our Christmas last night.
I decorated while nanna cleaned :)
Clean house = AMAZING
Christmas = wonderful.

Black Friday and a Merry Indie Christmas

I spent my morning at home and in bed.

Mitch and I decided to forgo Black Friday shopping.

{except we totally waited on our computers last night to snag a lighting deal on Amazon}

Crowds really aren't our thing.

I was even productive at one point today...

I finally vacuumed the crawl space for Mitch

did the dishes

and made room in our fridge to thaw our 20lb turkey for Sunday.

Mitch got off a bit early this afternoon

so we headed out to see if we could pick up a few deals on Christmas goodies.

We checked a few things off our list :)

I'm not the most crafty or make it yourself kind of person.

I'm so grateful for Thanksgiving this week!!

Family, Food, no work....

Life can't get much better than that.

I have Thursday and Friday off.

Our counter is filling up with vitamins and supplements...

I filled up a little baggy to take with me to work today.

Mitch makes sure I take all my 'goodies' everyday.

What a good hubby.

This evening has been wonderful for me.

I surprisingly had lots of energy this evening

making good use of it... I washed our bedding, made dinner, vacuumed, de-haired our quilt....

I feel good.

I came up with a BRILLIANT idea today.

Just the thought of it relieves some stress.

Mitch thought it was really brilliant too.

We are hiring my sister to clean our house top to bottom, corner to corner once a month.

She is an amazing cleaner!!!

I can't wait to have her come next Monday!!!

It'll be a win win for both of us.

Last night all my family got together to celebrate my cousin's birthday

Mitch had a marathon day between work, teaching YM and a 2 hour meeting.

Sadly he wasn't able to join me.

I had a wonderful time though.

My grandma and grandpa were able to make it

My aunt Susie and cousin Nora, Ben, Dan, Lexi and Cameron

I'm really glad I was able to see them since our thanksgiving is with Mitch's family this year.

Dinner was delicious.

Hello Weekend

Last night we had a wonderful evening enjoying dinner with friends. Time sure flies when you are having a good time :) Thanks Jaclyn, David and Austin for a great time. We need to do that more often!!

I spend my day (Saturday) at work. Hoping to sell lots of Poinsettias. Naturally I'm wishing I was home with Mitch instead. But I am grateful for my job and the security it gives us.

I've been carrying my nice camera around with me this past week. Looking for inspiration. I need a pick me up and my camera seems to be doing the job well. Looking at every day things with a different eye... It's refreshing even if it just through my lens. I challenge you to do the same. Grab your camera and take a look at life from a different angle.

Tonight, my evening includes reminder calls for the primary assignments. Writing up the agenda for primary. As well as the agenda for our meeting tomorrow. {blah} BUT I do have high hopes for some good snuggles from my boys and hubby and maybe a quick trip to Costco. Hopefully my energy will stick around for awhile.

I spent my time waking up.

Posting about my challenges this year.

We were supposed to have a meeting at work

reviewing the past year....

I made sure to arrive around 10:30

We had anticipated booking our Monrovia order wouldn't take so long.

2 hours later I asked Grant if he still wanted to hold our meeting.

Still working on our order with Monrovia...

Grant wanted to put it off for another day or two.

Unfortunately it was 2 hours at work when I wasn't absolutely needed.

Borrowed the truck and hurried home to finish the yard work for the year.

{I love having access to the dumpster at work}

Picking up the boys messes, raking leaves, cleaning out the garden, loading all the trimmings from the front yard and mowing the back yard.

Around 2:30 I was in the back yard working and heard a garbage can being rolled.

I figured it was one of the neighbors bringing their trash can back to their house.

Our trash can was still out on the road

I figured I'd bring it back to the house once I was done in the back yard.

3:00 I finally finished with all the yard work.

Grab my purse and keys

Ready to head back to the store and dump everything.

Trash can ..... NOWHERE to be found!!!

Seriously?!

My text to Mitch read - um our trash can disappeared!

Mitch called and told me he'd call the city and see if they had anything to say.

Did you know a new trash is going to cost us $225!!!!

I don't know about you... But that is outrageous!!

How can you not be angry about that?!

Stolen trash can and raped for a new one!?!

Another call to waste management...

turns out if there is a police report filed it will only cost us $53 something.

The kind officer took my report...

and informed me, it'll take a FEW days to get it filed.

{.... excuse me officer but it only takes a few minutes to file a ticket... We would like a new trash can}

Needless to say it was the cherry on top of my not ideal day off.

Yes I accomplished a lot in the yard.

HOWEVER who steals a trash can!??!!!

Do you realize how much you need a trash can?!

We realized very quickly how often you use it... need it.

PLUS the ATM denied my withdrawal for our car payments.

which mean I had to go into the branch....

Apparently our withdrawal amount dropped on the ATM for no reason.

I was ready to freak out and cry talking with the guy at the bank...

Waiting in traffic and finally making to pay our car payments.

It was a rough day.

At least I had the sweetest note from my hubby this morning

and a super yummy chai this afternoon.

PS. My crock pot is my best friend on days like today.

Wish us luck with our trash can.

We are in desperate need of one right now.

Who in their right mind STEALS a trash can?!!! Really!!!

Challenges

This year has been a challenging one for me.

Last November I struggled with mild depression.
It was horrible.
I struggled with admitting it out loud.
One evening I was talking with my mother-in-law and finally brought myself to say it.
I'm truly grateful that it wasn't something I had to deal with for an extended period of time.

This Spring I was doing really well.
I felt on top of things.
I absolutely love the spring months.
I was busy with work, planting all the time.
I felt ambitious and took on a side job.

I took too much on.
Stress.
Feeling over loaded.
Exhaustion.
Always feeling stretched too thin.

Through out the summer I continued to feel the same.
I had finished the side job.
Overtime had finished at work.
My calling at church seemed to be too much.
I continually felt exhausted
I could barely manage my everyday tasks.

I attributed it to my boundaries.
Learning about what I can and can't do and being okay with that.
If I pushed myself too far...
the next few days would be rough.

Mitch and I both went in for physicals this past month.
The NP that I saw thought to add a thyroid lab with the rest of my blood work.
She called me with the results the next day.
Blood pressure, glucose, liver functions...
Everything looked pretty good.
But she did tell me I was hypothyroid.

I didn't even know what a thyroid was.
She asked if ever feel mentally foggy, fatigued, dry/brittle hair...
She recalled that I complained about weight gain this past year {~15lbs}

After the call, I looked up what hypothyroid is
It makes a lot of sense...
many of the symptoms listed are things I've experienced this year.
I had attributed everything to certain aspects of my life.
Never once had I thought that it could be a health problem.

There are days that I feel good
and other days are a lot more challenging.

I'm grateful to know that there is a reason for many of the things I am experiencing.
There is hope with medicine and natural remedies that I will be able to balance my thyroid.

Happy hump day. It feels like it should be Saturday... Okay maybe I'm wishing it was Saturday.
Ive had a bit more energy the past few days and ive tried to make good use of it. Last night I checked off 9 things on my to do list before my body had enough. Yay.

The boys have been sleeping with us each night. I love having cezar keep my feet warm all night long :)
I love having a living room! I'm amazed at how much time we've already spent in there :)

Yesterday was spent trouble shooting things for work. I'm over the top frustrated with salesmen! Hoping no more problems arise from now until spring.

Yard work has also been a priority this week. Hoping to finish everything by tomorrow night. I'll feel so much better once everything is finished and I can not worry about the outdoors until next spring :) wish me luck.

Another month has come and gone.

Wow!

I swear time passes a million times faster as each day passes.

1: Looking downstairs into our living room. Mitch still needed to finish putting together our TV stand.

2: Whole wheat toast with honey for breakfast.

3: Pulling into work. The pumpkins need to find they way down.... into the dumpster

4: Our register. Helping our customers throughout the day.

5: Our fall squash display. So many yummy squashes!!

6: Triple Treat pumpkins! Makes the best pumpkin chili and pumpkin seeds!! mmm :)

7: Did you know poinsettias are NOT poisonous?!! Really really!

8: Our poinsettias are absolutely gorgeous this year! One of our best crops ever!

9: Avocado turkey sandwich for lunch... YUMMY

10: Working on the work website and Facebook page

Dreaming of Christmas

This year for Christmas we are dreaming about our living room. When we moved into our home last fall we realized we were a bit short on furniture. Since then our living room has been home to our love seat and our couch has enjoyed living in the family room downstairs. Needless to say the living room has looked naked for over a year.

Mitch and I have talked about shopping for new couches or sectional {our current ones are wonderful, comfy and over sized for the space}. So for Friday night date night, we went browsing for couches. I don't know about you, but we were a bit surprised at how much couches cost!! {thank you mom and dad Dayley for your old couches! We love them!} We found a set that we liked but debated about the price tag. I know we wouldn't regret spending money for couches, because we really want a functioning living room. {Naked rooms arent our thing}. But that was a lot of money. So we decided to think about it for a bit and headed over to Ikea to browse TV stands. While there we decided we'd see if we could make our current couches work. Why not, right?! It would save us some big dollars! Once home, we brought the other couch upstairs and we quickly realized {I was right} they were a bit too big to fit. Hmm. It quickly turned into a mathematical challenge with couches. I was determined to find an arrangement that worked. After rearranging a few times we finally figured it out. SWEET !! Our bank account is thanking us today.

Next on the list was something to put our TV on. I refused to use the one in the family room. Mitch thinks its great... I really truly highly dislike it. I think it's beyond ugly. So I offered to let us use my cedar chest until we could figure out what we wanted. But the problem there was there wasn't a place to neatly tuck the DVR, DVD player, sound system and gaming systems. It was 9pm and we headed to Wally world to see of we could find a nice TV stand {preferably one we could tuck all the boxes mentioned above in}. 30 mins later we finally agreed on one {my preference of course ;) thanks baby} and headed home. Once we get out to our car, I stood with the cart waiting for Mitch to lay the seats down.

Mitch: {one, two....} Umm honey do you remember how to lay the middle seat down?!

Me: You forgot!?! Can I take a picture?? {I couldn't hold the laughter back.}

Mitch: it's like it's flipping me off. This is so frustrating.

Me: {more laughter}

He finally figured it out :) and we made it home. But we didn't stop there... We figured we'd put it together. Holy moly was that a brilliant idea. {not} 11 pm rolls around and Mitch decided he'd finish it off in the morning. It was way past my bed time and I was ready for bed back around 7pm. A quick shower, some snuggs and a kiss good night...

Best part... we managed to figure out half of our Christmas wish. Now for the decorating ;)

I was talking to my friend a few months ago about pictures.

What??

When we were in high school and living together after graduation, pictures were really important.

What changed?

I'm saddened to realize my hubby has a habit of dodging my camera.

Every Day is a New Adventure

I'm a slightly ridiculous 23 year-old who often acts half my age. I'm married to the greatest guy in the world (okay, so I'm a little biased), affectionately referred to on my blog as "Hubby." My friend and I were talking this morning about how much joy of fur babies bring to us. She has two darling cats and I've got my two boys.

She had commented as she came into work how wonderful it was spending the morning snuggling with them and kissing them.

I'm in complete aggreeance with her. My two boys drive me plenty crazy, but they add so much to my life and little family. There is something so special about them. The last two nights the boys were tired enough to sleep with us. Jake sleeps on his doggie bed and cezar curls up next to my feet or legs. As Mitch got up this morning, Cezar came and curled up next to my chest and gave me morning snuggles. It was seriously the best ever! Gave me the happy start I needed this morning.

My boys bring me so much happiness and joy. I am very grateful they are mine!!

A day off = catch up

Once upon a time a day off equaled a day off. Remember in elementary school when we'd have a day off it meant we were going to play all day? I sure do. Then growing up happened. Growing up brought many wonderful things like being able to drive, working and having money, doing what you want to do {most of the time}, dating cute boys, getting engaged and marring the most wonderful man, buying a house and living happily ever after. Sounds perfect right. Even when I was a child I would play pretend that I was all grown up, playing college and sometimes house. Little did I realize the amount of responsibility that came with growing up. Here I am living the 'grown up' dream :) married to my fabulous hubby, working a job I love {most days} and having our own home.

Yesterday was my day off. It was filled with lots of catch up items. Folding and putting away all the clean laundry, putting dinner in the crock pot, dishes, loving on the boys, mowing the jungle of a front lawn we had, planting bulbs and pansies, sweeping the walk, running errands. Sometimes I spend a day off playing hooky with all my adult responsibilities, yesterday was not one of them. I love the feeling of a clean home, fresh laundry in the closet, a fresh mowed yard.... The joys of being all grown up I suppose. Good news is I wouldn't have it any other way :)

I went in for a physical today... Getting blood drawn hurts unbelievable bad!! My arm still hurts too!!

Loving our winter hours at work!! 9-5. It's pretty much amazing.

Mitch got us a matress warmer... It's fabulous!! So warm and cozy :)

My yard work is still nagging me. Everytime I look at it. Ripped out more annuals last night. Crossing my fingers that I'm able to get a lot checked off the list tomorrow. Yay for days off.

We started our morning by sleeping in, snuggles with Cezar and deciding on a trip to the grocery store. Yay for food in the house :) headed into work just before 11 and enjoying a slower day at work.

Tonight my Halloween plans are to mow my lawn, plant some bulbs and pansies, catch up my computer {it's missed me} snuggle with the boys and avoid all the tricker treaters. I'm kind of a party pooper when it comes to the trick or treating part. My boys would constantly be barking, I see more than enough children at my work all month... I prefer a quiet night :)

BUT I wish all you party goers and trick or treaters a safe and fun filled evening!! I can't wait to hear all about it!!

Today I am going to talk about my favorite things- Fall edition. Let's face it, Fall is pretty much anyone who's anyone's favorite Season. It has so much to offer, how could it not be?? Here are my top three:

1. The weather- It's perfection! Beautiful leaves, crisp cool air- yet there are still days that are warm, all of the yummy fruits and vegetables are perfect for picking, throw in an occasional thunder storm and I could live in a world that is always Fall.

2. Halloween- Such a fun Holiday! There are festivals left and right, things for the meek and things for the "brave" of heart, costumes, candy, and celebrations everywhere you turn!

3. The Clothes- How could this not be on the list?! It pretty much rules the list. haha! Boots (slippers), hats, sweaters, scarves, gloves, LOVE!

Hello there lovelies, I’m so happy to be visiting today here on Holly’s blog. I’m the one they dub TJ over on Mr. Taylor and his Lady. I blog about my life as a newlywed, style and just the everyday generic thoughts that cross my mind. I like to think I’m funny, but I’ll let you be the judge. I’m obsessed with my hubby, love my lipstick, like ice cream, and dislike cats. Sorry to all of you cat lovers out there.

But enough of that small talk, let’s cozy up and get to know each other a little bit better. And what better way then to give you a little insight into the most important thing in my life – Mr. Taylor himself.

Mr. Taylor and I met our junior year of high school in Mr. Peterson’s class. I asked him if I could sit next to him and he said yes. I then proceeded to introduce myself to him and he kindly replied, "yeah, I will never remember your name" (yes, I still give him a hard time about it). Nevertheless, we soon became good friends and then best friends. Our senior year of high school started with Mr. Taylor driving me home from school every single day. The nights would end with me driving to his work and us sitting outside the QFC talking for three hours at a time before heading back home. Needless to say we fell for each other hard but never did anything about it.

Three years passing, college states apart, and one mission later, Mr. Taylor finally manned up (I guess you could say). 10 minutes going by of nervous silence and listening to the same song on repeat, boy kissed girl and hasn't stopped kissing her since.

We got married three months ago to do the day. Best decision I ever made, and I feel so blessed to say that I honestly married my best friend.

Hello Dayley Happening readers! I am so happy to be guest posting again on Holly's blog while her and her husband are gone. Holly is seriously the sweetest girl I have ever met and I have really enjoyed getting to know her.

Today, I wanted to share a special dream I had a while ago. At the time, I was having a really hard time being a fairly new mother and I felt like I was at my breaking point. I felt very
lost, alone & abandoned.

And then I had this dream.

This was written a while ago on my blog the day after I had my dream.
I hope you feel of our Savior's love for you as you read it.

Last night, I had a dream about the past First Presidency of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (before President Hinckley and President Faust passed away).

I was with Elijah getting him ready for the day when he was being a little pistol. I passed the kitchen table and saw a letter from President Monson written on a pale yellow piece of paper. It was addressed to my parents but I quickly read it where he told them that it was really good to see them and he really enjoyed their company. I put the letter away and went to go wrangle up Elijah and calm him down.

Skip ahead.

I am now holding Elijah, still pretty ornery, and we walk into a chapel where the First Presidency is sitting on the stand with their wives, all dressed in beautiful, white clothes. There are only a handful of people in the audience, just close friends and family.

I stand in the aisle holding Elijah and listening to the current speaker, Sister Faust. She is speaking on how to turn to the Lord in your trials and that He is there to answer your prayers.

She talked about being a mother and the hardships that accompanied that special calling and how she could still always feel God’s love for her.

After her talk was finished, President Hinckley, Monson and Faust and their wives got up to leave. As Sister Faust walked by me, I stopped her and thanked her for her talk and her words of inspiration to me. She gave me a hug and followed her husband out the door.

Sister Hinckley then approached me and gave me a big hug. She asked me how I was doing and talked to me as if I was her own granddaughter, as if she had known me my whole life.

While we were talking, President Monson walked by and said, “Hello Megan! Say hello to your parents for me. I hope they are doing well in the Marshall Islands. I really enjoyed visiting with them." He then continued on his way out the door.

I looked back at Sister Hinckley with a look of shock on my face. I could not understand how he knew who I was. Even if he knew my parents supposedly, how did he know me? How did he know my name or about my life?

Sister Hinckley saw the look on my face and smiled up at me and said, “It’s pretty amazing isn’t it, that he knows who you are even though you’ve never met him. He loves you and prays for you. He knows you even if you may not know him.”

In my dream, I started getting tears in my eyes. I felt the Spirit so strong as she spoke to me.

Then I woke up. And even as I woke up, I had this overwhelming peace come over me and I felt like crying.

I thought back on my dream and what was said to me by Sister Hinckley. I thought about President Monson, the current prophet, knowing who I was even though I have never met with him face-to-face. I thought that seemed pretty crazy, that he would know all my trials and hardships of being a young mother and my parents being far away from me. I don’t doubt that he prays for all of us, but I didn’t understand how he could know me personally.

Then I felt a great sense of clarity at the message.

It was Heavenly Father.

Heavenly Father knows my every need.

He knows my fears and trials. He knows how hard it is to be a young, student mother. He knows how hard it is for my for my parents to be thousands of miles away. He knows what I needed to hear to comfort and inspire me, even in my dreams.

Yesterday, I came home from a group meeting telling Adam that I wanted to curl up in a ball and die. I told him I felt completely overwhelmed with my responsibilities to school and to Elijah. I didn’t think I would get through these next couple of weeks. He reassured me that it would be okay and that we will make it work. I felt a little better but still rather stressed as we went to bed that night.

Enter, dream.

I know my Heavenly Father loves me. I know He is watching over him and helping me get through this stressful time in my life. I know I can turn to Him when times get tough and He will always be there, watching over me.

Thank you again, Holly, for letting me share this special moment with you!!
I know the Lord loves us and knows us and is there for us. Even when we feel alone.
I hope we can all remember His love for us and turn to Him in times of trial.

Rough start.

Besides being exhausted and working a ton. Mitch and I still need to pack and clean the house. Tomorrow we work a half day and then grab our stuff and head to Vegas. I can't believe we are celebrating our 2 year anniversary already. Wow. I have some fabulous ladies who will take my place while I'm away. So make sure to stop by and get to know them a bit!!

This morning cezar was having a rough start. He kept whimpering and it seemed he hurt himself. So sad! I got some good snuggles though. I felt horrible leaving him.

It's the last week of pumpkinland. Hooray! I'm eager for the change of hours - 9-5. It makes a HUGE difference working 9-5 everyday. Hopefully I'll be able to get caught up on everything at home next month. Crossing my fingers.

Hooray for Saturday. The end is in sight. Crazy long hours this week. I'm beyond worn out to say the least. 5 more hours to go.

Yesterday night all us Dayleys went to Pumpkinland. I LOVED going through with our niece. Mom and dad met up with us at the animals. I have lots of darling photos and can't wait to share!! Dinner at Fong's Asian diner {in PG} afterwards. Best food ever. I am in love with their Thai coconut curry. It's incredible!! Yay for family time.

Mitch and I let both boys sleep up stairs with us. It was Cezar first night. He did so well sleeping through the night. Jake prefers sleeping on his bed on the floor, so do we :) 30lbs is a lot to share with lol. Cezar's 12 lbs is nothing though. We can hardly tell he's there.

Best part about it {my grandpa owns it}I was able to take Jake there this past Sunday to play.

He LOVED it!!

I think his favorite part was chasing our silky chickens

{they have the craziest hair. I love it}

He loved exploring the pumpkins in the courtyard, smelling anything and everything

and meeting all our cute bunnies, goats and other birds!

You know those weeks that are SO busy it seems near impossible to make time for any Internet time? Yea... I'm having one of those weeks. It's good though. Working long hours, trying to balance the tasks at home, and spend adequate time with my hubby and boys.

In the last week and a half, we've spent way too much money on dr visits and medicine. Being sick is SO much fun! {do you sense the sarcasm?} my voice is a bit stronger than the last few days. I sound incredibly sexy ;) lol. Hopefully the anibiotics help, and get ride of my on going congestion. Mitch is doing a bit better. Strep seems to be gone, but he's got a horrible cold now. I'm crossing my fingers we are both better by next Thursday when we leave to celebrate our 2 year anniversary!!

This morning I was super lucky and was able to sleep in a bit. Yay! Got up, hung out with my boys, got ready for work. Had some Spark {Abby you win} and stuffed as much of my annual flowers in my trash can. Yea for trash day. I still have a ton of yard clean up though. Praying for The good weather to last a couple weeks more.

Best part of my morning - rocking out to music and dancing with myself on the way to work. I'm sure it was a sight to see at the stoplights. Ha ha.

Two cold sores in one week. Out of medicine :( losing my voice.

Miserably long wait and 2 different doctors office. Finally got seen and handed two prescriptions. Not much of a explanation on what's wrong. Frustrating. Walmart - 1 hr wait to fill prescriptions. Walgreens took care of me in less than 10. Thank heavens.

Tired. Frustrated. Looking forward to snuggs from Mitch when he gets home.
Luckily Mitch is feeling a bit better.

6: I'm loving dark nail polish right now
7: date night out and about. Perfect and needed and refreshing.

10: learning a new side of my hubby. It's kinda funny :) who would've ever guessed.

A breath of fresh air.

Mitch and I are a couple of sickies. Nasty cold for me and a mean sore throat for hubby. Sad day.
I slept in til 9:30. Laid in bed for awhile. Finally talked myself outta bed. I took the boys with me to run to the bank, and grab a Pepsi. It's been about 4 weeks since I got a 32 oz. kudos me. When we got back home, we crawled back into bed and continued our lazy morning til 1 :) it was amazing.

My to do list was calling. {have you downloaded the new ios5 for the iPhone yet?? Love the reminders app!!} I was able to deep clean the kitchen. Do some dishes. Put away my canned tomatoes. Pick up puppy poo, double mow the backyard {it was a jungle}. Sweep out the garage and put some stuff away in the shed for the winter. Sorted laundry and cleaned up my side of the closet. Vacuum. Roast some more Chilis. Started decorating my front porch. It feels great getting some things checked off my list!!

But now it's back to bed. With Cafe Rio for dinner :)

Surprisingly this is the most on-top-of-things I've felt in a very very long.

I started the 12 of 12 project a year ago.
I've quite enjoyed capturing my days with pictures!

Yesterday was my LONG day!! 11 hrs spent at work.

1: Pumpkinland. Lots of field trips.
2: Beautiful pansies. I need to start planting some in my yard.
3: Delicious winter squashes. Yummy.
4: Coloring contests. I love seeing all the pages come in.
5: Orange wellington tomatoes. They are so yummy!!
6: Unloading pumpkins. I helped unload 2 trucks loads. Who needs a gym when ya haul pumpkins.
7: Corn husks.
8: Finally getting a moment to sit, while being the gate attendant. Indian corn and Pepsi.
9: Pumpkins!! Are one of my favorite things ever!! All so pretty!!
10: closing the gate. lots to do to close.
11: Finally heading to my car. My day finally coming to an end.
12: Beautiful sunset as I drove home.

Friday I had butterflies all day. I thought about what I would wear, hoping I'd hit it off with everyone...

it felt like a giant blind date with lots of darling women who I may or may not bloggy stock.

I kissed my hubby good bye at 4 and wished him luck on the YM campout.

Then hurried and got dolled up.

As I drove up to Dear Lizze's in Highland I couldn't help but be slightly nervous.

It was amazing!!

I loved meeting each of the ladies and getting to know them a little better.

It has been a very long time since I've spent an evening with lots of darling women!

Morning brunch

It's Monday. I ended up spending my Sunday sleeping. All day. I started feeling sick saturday and didn't feel any better yesterday. Slept til 11 and another 5 hours in the afternoon. Nyquil is my new BFF lol.

This morning we were able to go out for breakfast. Yay for morning dates and yummy food! Too bad we both have to work the rest of the day.

My 'blind' date with the Utah bloggers turned out fabulously!! I'll have to post the few pictures I have soon! I am totally smitten with all the darling ladies I got to meet. Best girls night in a long time :)

Here's to hoping for a great week and that I start to feel better soon :)

I'm very excited to have Nicole from Becoming the Robie's visiting today!! She is such a darling lady and a new friend, not to mention a brand new newly wed :) She has a great reminder/lesson for all of us today. {I sure needed it}

I'm so excited to be guest blogging here today! Miss Holly and I are new friends and I love her blog and am so thankful she's asked me to stop by!

I'm Nicole, and I blog over at Becoming the Robie's. I've kept a blog for about 5 years, but just recently decided to take it seriously and started a brand new one! (I love you my 3 official followers! :P) I thought it was perfect timing to start afresh as my life took a pendulum swing from single gal, eating ice cream in bed and taking as many target shopping sprees as my heart desired to married gal, budgeting, twice as much laundry and sharing the same sized bed with a big strong man instead of my 30 lb. dog. Needless to say, married life has thrown a few curve balls.

I was recently married this past August to a charismatic, ~~stubborn~~ satirical musician. (Although I wish I could say that we walk around with him and his guitar making a soundtrack to our life, that is not the case.) I've been married for a little over a month, and I feel like I've already learned so much about relationships, love and myself than I have the last 22 years of my life. Which leads me to something that I have been forced to realize...

I have a pride problem. I know, I'm the only one. I had written a post about my little problem a few weeks ago. Ben and I had some friends over and we were talking about how if we treated and spoke to our spouse the way we do with friends (friends that we'd like to keep as friends), married life could be revolutionary. Ben happen to be standing right in front of the target my attitude was aimed at one morning. After some coffee (caffeine? check.) and some quiet time (introspection? check.) I knew I had some apologizing to do. Right at that moment, it was like a battle inside my mind, but I wasn't fighting myself, it was...weird. I kept saying to myself, "How hard is it to stay 'I'm sorry' Nicole? Really?" I let the opportunity pass and drove all the way to work, got out of the car and walked away from my wonderful husband, un-apologized and un-forgiven. It ruined my whole day.

I started to have a conversation with God about what the crap happened. I felt like such a horrible person and now my tail was between my legs for acting so childish and prideful.

I had this epiphany.

Marriage is the closest thing we get to participate in that resembles the wonderful relationship between the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Satan HATES that relationship and HATES marriage because of of its purpose to reflect the gospel to each other in a way that is like no other, glorifying God in a unique way. Satan wants me to stay prideful and stay childish so he can push the wedge of sin and brokenness of the world between us.

After days of allowing my pride and attitude to conquer me, I found myself, once again, looking the perfect opportunity to apologize for my behavior in the eye. Before I could think about it, I blurted out, "I'm Sorry!"
I confessed that no matter what or why I am frustrated, there is no excuse to be ugly and mean. I continued to share with Ben what had happened a few days before with my battle with the Enemy and his nasty lies.

Only a day or two after conquering this huge battle, Ben and I were arguing about something (I think it was something along the lines of, "You used every spatula in the house to make that cake!" ...or something...like that...) and I felt that nasty little problem begin to rise in me (It came in the form of high blood pressure). After a few more words shared, Ben left and I decided to jump on here and see what was going on within the community of my blogger friends. That's when I received Holly's sweet comment on my post regarding all of this, asking me if I'd like to guest post about it on hers.

Let's say it together: Foot. In. Mouth.

I was able to take a moment and give a little sarcastic laugh to myself and the dog, and I was hesitant to respond.

God, what are you trying to do to me? If I write about this on another blog, I'll have two places my husband will remind me of when I ... "forget" about my ... problem.

As I thought more about why I blog and the purpose to encourage, be encouraged and have a community of people to share life with, I knew I needed to surrendered my pride (once again), and there was only one answer, and that was, "Holly, I'd love too! It's unfortunately a topic, I know all too well about." Annnnnd here I am.

After a good conversation with a dear friend, I thought outloud, "What if for...1 month, I just decided that no matter what Ben did or said, I just decided to humble myself and say, "You know what. You're right. I'm sorry." What would that do for my marriage?"

Ben and I aren't perfect (duh) and we surely will argue again and my pride hasn't disappeared out of thin air, but I'm truly seeking my strength to be a wife of noble character and a wife where my husband can receive rest, not only in our home, but in my spirit from Jesus. We agreed that whenever we feel that nudge from the Holy Spirit to apologize to each other that we would do our best to say it out loud right away and together, we'll work to keep that wedge of brokenness and sin far away from our newly wed lives.

And now, you get to hold me accountable too. :)
